History
Founded by Alfred Grimwade Thompson in Melbourne in 1890, Kookaburra started as a ball manufacturer and remains the official ball of Test cricket in Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies.
Kookaburra entered the bat market seriously in the 1970s and revolutionised it with the Kahuna in the mid-1990s — Ricky Ponting's bat for almost his entire international career. The oversized swell and unmistakable yellow labels became one of cricket's most recognisable silhouettes.
The brand sponsors Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, Kane Williamson and AB de Villiers' modern bats, and continues to press both English and Kashmir willow in volume.
