History

Founded in 1931 by brothers Kedarnath and Dwarkanath Anand in Sialkot (pre-Partition Punjab), SG relocated to Meerut after 1947 and became one of India's defining sports manufacturers. The SG Test ball has been the official red ball of Indian home Test matches for decades.

On the bat side, SG built its reputation on Kashmir willow for the domestic market and English willow blades for international players. Sunil Gavaskar's SG Sunny Tonny became one of the most copied bat shapes of the 1980s, and the brand has remained a fixture in Indian dressing rooms — Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Hardik Pandya have all wielded SG profiles.
